IV Wellness™ Frequently Asked Questions
Safety, Credentials & Choosing An IV Provider
A Registered Nurse is a licensed healthcare professional who has completed formal nursing education, passed a licensing examination and is trained to assess patients, administer medications and IV therapy, recognize complications and respond appropriately to changes in a patient’s condition.
The term “IV technician” can include individuals with different levels of training and licensure. IV Wellness™ specifically and exclusively uses licensed Registered Nurses to administer every IV treatment.
IV therapy should be administered by a qualified, appropriately licensed healthcare professional working within applicable medical protocols. IV Wellness™ has chosen to have every treatment administered by a licensed Registered Nurse under physician oversight, which is mandated by law in the state of Florida.
This provides clients with an experienced medical professional who can review health information, administer the IV and monitor the treatment.
Yes. IV Wellness™ operates under physician oversight, and every IV is administered by a licensed Registered Nurse.
The IV Wellness™ medical team includes supervising physician Dr. Joseph Purita, MD, along with experienced Registered Nurses who provide mobile treatments throughout South Florida.
Look beyond the IV menu and ask who will actually be providing your care.
A reputable mobile IV provider should clearly identify the credentials of the healthcare professionals administering treatment, operate with appropriate medical oversight, perform a health screening before treatment, use sterile medical-grade supplies and clearly explain treatment options and pricing.
At IV Wellness™, every IV is administered by a licensed Registered Nurse under physician oversight, with a medical intake completed before treatment.
IV Wellness is led by experienced Registered Nurses and operates under physician-supervised protocols, with every treatment administered by a licensed RN. The company provides mobile IV therapy throughout Broward and Palm Beach Counties, with service available seven days a week at homes, hotels, offices, yachts and events. That combination of clinical experience, medical oversight, convenience and personalized care helps distinguish IV Wellness from many IV drip providers.
IV Wellness is not a pop-up IV bar or technician-led service. Treatments are administered by Registered Nurses, customized for each client and supported by physician oversight. Founder Joanie Lingmerth, RN, BSN, MBA brings more than 25 years of nursing experience, and the company offers same-day availability, transparent pricing and mobile service across 19+ South Florida communities.
When comparing mobile IV therapy providers, consider:
- Who administers the IV: Is the person providing treatment a licensed healthcare professional? Registered Nurses are the only professionals who can administer in a mobile, non-medical setting.
- Medical oversight: Is there a physician overseeing treatment protocols?
- Pre-treatment screening: Does the provider review your health history before treatment?
- Ingredient and equipment quality: Are sterile, medical-grade supplies and appropriate pharmacy-grade ingredients used?
- Transparency: Are treatments, ingredients and prices clearly explained?
- Experience: Does the company identify the healthcare professionals providing your care?
- Customization: Is treatment selected based on your individual needs?
- Convenience: Can the provider safely treat you at your home, hotel, office or event?
- Availability: Are same-day and advance appointments available?
IV Wellness™ provides Registered Nurse-administered treatments, physician oversight, individualized screening and fully mobile service throughout Broward and Palm Beach Counties, often on the same day.
IV Therapy Basics
IV therapy delivers fluids, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients directly into the bloodstream through an intravenous infusion.
Because the ingredients bypass the digestive system, they are available to the body more directly than nutrients taken orally. At IV Wellness™, every IV is customized to the individual and administered by a licensed Registered Nurse under physician oversight.
IV hydration delivers fluids directly into the bloodstream rather than relying on the digestive system to absorb them.
This allows for rapid hydration and direct delivery of any vitamins, electrolytes or nutrients included in your customized IV. IV Wellness™ is fully mobile, so a Registered Nurse can provide treatment at your home, hotel, office or other appropriate location.
Benefits depend on the IV treatment and your individual needs.
IV therapy may be used to support hydration, energy, recovery, immune function, antioxidant support, immunity, mental clarity and overall wellness. Because the ingredients are delivered directly into the bloodstream, IV therapy bypasses the digestive system for efficient absorption.
Many IV Wellness™ clients begin noticing effects while the infusion is still underway.
Most clients report beginning to feel effects within approximately 20 to 30 minutes, although response time varies depending on the individual, their hydration level and the treatment received.
Most IV Wellness™ appointments take approximately 60 minutes from start to finish, including setup and the infusion.
NAD+ treatments typically take longer and may require approximately one to three hours or more depending on the dose and individual tolerance. Your Registered Nurse can discuss expected treatment time before your appointment.
How long you feel the effects of IV therapy varies based on the treatment, your hydration level, health, activity level and individual metabolism.
Some clients experience benefits for several days, while others use IV therapy periodically as part of their wellness routine. Individual results vary.
IV therapy is generally considered safe when appropriately administered by trained healthcare professionals.
At IV Wellness™, every treatment is administered by a licensed Registered Nurse under physician oversight using sterile, medical-grade equipment and prescription vitamins and drugs. A health and medical intake is completed before treatment to help determine whether IV therapy is appropriate for you.
Every IV Wellness™ treatment is administered by a licensed Registered Nurse. This is the law in the state of Florida for all mobile providers.
The IV Wellness™ nursing team has extensive clinical experience and follows physician-supervised treatment protocols.
Yes. IV Wellness™ treatments are provided under physician oversight.
The medical team includes supervising physician Dr. Joseph Purita, MD, along with experienced Registered Nurses who administer each treatment.
No, you do not need to obtain an individual prescription before contacting IV Wellness™.
The necessary medical protocols are handled by the IV Wellness™ team. A brief health and medical intake is completed before treatment to help determine whether the selected IV is appropriate for you.
While all medical supplies and vitamins/drugs are a prescription, your prescription is obtained by IV Wellness™ written under our physician.
Before your appointment, let IV Wellness™ know how you are feeling, your wellness goals and any relevant medical information. Unless you are experiencing nausea, we advise all patients to eat prior to their appointment.
Your Registered Nurse will complete a brief medical screening before treatment and can answer questions about what to expect. Follow any specific instructions provided by your nurse or healthcare provider.
Most clients can return to their normal activities after an IV treatment.
Continue to stay hydrated, eat normally and follow any individualized instructions provided by your Registered Nurse. Because treatments and medical histories differ, your nurse can advise you if there are any specific post-treatment considerations.
There is no single IV therapy schedule that is appropriate for everyone.
Frequency depends on your health, wellness goals and the type of IV treatment. Some people choose periodic treatments for maintenance, while others receive IV therapy for an acute specific need, such as food poisoning, flu, dehydration, etc. IV Wellness™ can help determine an appropriate approach based on your individual circumstances.
IV therapy is not appropriate for everyone. The medical conditions such as Congestive Heart Failure, Pulmonary Edema, Renal Failure, Dialysis, Uncontrolled Eurythmia, Hemodynamic Instability (blood clotting disorders) are typically contraindicated for IV therapy.
Certain medical conditions, medications, allergies or other health considerations may affect whether a particular IV or ingredient is appropriate. IV Wellness™ conducts a medical screening before treatment, and clients should disclose their medical history and medications.
Anyone with questions about whether IV therapy is appropriate for a medical condition should consult their healthcare provider.
Most side effects associated with IV hydration are minor.
Temporary bruising, redness, soreness or tenderness can occur around the IV insertion site. Your Registered Nurse will review your medical information beforehand and monitor you during treatment.
Otherwise, most patients report little to zero side effects from IV therapy, only positive results.
Food Poisoning & Stomach Illness
IV therapy can help address some of the most common effects of food poisoning, particularly dehydration caused by vomiting or diarrhea. IV fluids bypass the digestive system and deliver hydration directly into the bloodstream, which can be especially helpful when it is difficult to keep fluids down.
IV Wellness™ offers a mobile Food Poisoning IV designed to support rehydration and provide relief from symptoms such as nausea and headache. Treatment is administered by a licensed Registered Nurse following a medical screening.
IV Wellness™ commonly uses its Food Poisoning IV for clients experiencing dehydration, nausea and related symptoms.
The treatment includes IV fluids for hydration and may include ingredients such as Zofran for nausea, Toradol for pain or headache, and Glutathione for gastrointestinal detox, when medically appropriate. Your Registered Nurse will review your symptoms and health history before determining which ingredients are appropriate for you.
Vomiting and diarrhea can cause the body to lose both fluids and electrolytes quickly.
IV hydration replaces fluids directly through the bloodstream without relying on the gastrointestinal system. This can be especially useful when nausea or vomiting makes it difficult to drink and retain enough water or electrolyte beverages.
IV therapy may help relieve nausea associated with food poisoning.
IV Wellness™ can include Zofran (ondansetron) in an IV treatment when medically appropriate. Zofran is an anti-nausea medication commonly used to help control nausea and vomiting. Your Registered Nurse will complete a medical screening before administering medication.
Some clients begin feeling better shortly after IV fluids begin, particularly when dehydration is contributing to symptoms.
IV Wellness™ notes that clients seeking treatment for dehydration related to vomiting, diarrhea or food poisoning may begin noticing improvement within minutes of receiving IV fluids. The timing and degree of relief vary depending on the cause and severity of the illness and the individual receiving treatment.
No. IV therapy does not cure the underlying infection or cause of food poisoning.
It is primarily used to help manage symptoms such as dehydration and, when appropriate, nausea. IV Wellness™ services are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease. More serious cases of food poisoning may require evaluation and treatment by a physician or emergency medical provider.
You may consider mobile IV hydration when food poisoning has left you dehydrated, weak or nauseated and you are having difficulty replacing fluids orally.
However, IV therapy is not a substitute for medical evaluation when symptoms are severe. IV Wellness™ completes a health screening before treatment to determine whether mobile IV therapy is appropriate.
